Hormone Imbalance: How It Can Lead to Obesity

In America today, it’s an easy and convenient choice to opt for fast food (otherwise known as “fat” food) on your way home from work. Maybe you’re too busy to make time for exercise or too tired to get to the gym. It’s easy to make excuses, but not taking care of your body comes with a price. Such habits contribute to a growing epidemic that ranks as the fifth leading risk factor for global deaths: obesity. Overeating, poor diet, and lack of physical activity are all obvious causes of obesity, which in itself is a precursor to diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. But many people are unaware that hormone imbalance can also contribute to obesity. High or low levels of certain hormones can cause declining energy levels that may lead to a decrease in activity that correlates with unhealthy weight gain.
